Pre-School Classes
Music Together
Introduction to Dance
This class is for students who are ready to work on the fundamentals of beginning ballet and jazz in a formal classroom setting, without their parents. Students will be introduced to basic dance skills through the use of creative movement activities, basic warm-ups and stretching, and beginning ballet positions and jazz combinations. Parents are encouraged to wait in the lobby area during class, and will be invited into the classroom to observe class at the end of each twelve week period, when they will be treated to a special performance!
This class is a parent participation class, designed especially for the parent and child to discover the joys of music and dance together! The class will teach students to recognize basic rhythm patterns, follow directions, count, dance and sing in various musical styles. In addition to beginning music and vocal skills, students will also be introduced to basic dance elements. Students will use interactive props including rhythm sticks, scarves, ribbons and hoops to excite their interest in music and movement!
Our pre-school curriculum emphasizes the development of the child’s imagination through the introduction of beginning dance, music, and dramatic skills in a relaxed environment. We recommend taking one or both of these courses as a pre-requisite to first and second grade Drama, Ballet, and Jazz.
